Subject: Principles of Defence Procurement Duration: 1.5 days/12 hours
Overview: The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction to and update on modern defence
procurement. Clear guidance is given on how Public Sector procurement differs from that in the Private Sector and how Defence Procurement represents several specialised subsets of routine practice in the
Public Sector. In particular, the special requirements of the procurement of Defence information systems and the growing need for greater interoperability and even interdependence are examined in detail.
The content referring to the UK can be replaced with that relevant to other countries as required.
Target Population: Those who need to have an insight into the philosophy, concepts, culture,
organization and practice of contemporary defence procurement, such as private sector marketing and sales staffs, bid teams and project management teams. This course will also be of interest to government
officials who are unfamiliar with current trends in Defence procurement.
